About Rachel Kelts
Rachel Kelts, M.A. is a California Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who uses
individual and couples therapy to help people deal with depression, anxiety, and
unresolved problems. Rachel is a grounded and mindful practitioner who takes a direct,
empathic approach that fosters personal responsibility and growth. She uses a Bowenian
model and incorporates cognitive behavioral interventions to help clients think
clearly and make healthy decisions in the midst of emotional turmoil.
Since 2001, Rachel has worked in both hospital and outpatient settings. She has
helped individuals, couples, and families deal with: suicidal behavior, depression,
chemical dependency, stress, anger, family discord, couples conflict, and troubled
adolescents. She also led psycho-educational support groups for an array of people
including post-polio sufferers, children of divorce, and “at risk” middle school
teens. Rachel currently facilitates an ongoing group which challenges members to
let go of anger and open their hearts to experience new levels of intimacy,
joy, and inner comfort.
Rachel had a successful career in retail management in the Bay Area before returning
to graduate school in Orange County. Rachel, a native New Yorker, holds a Bachelors
degree in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst where she graduated
with honors and received her Masters degree in Psychology with an emphasis on Marriage
and Family therapy from Chapman University.
Rachel is an experienced Ashtanga yoga practitioner who studied with Sri K Pattabi
Jois in Mysore, India. She runs regularly and recently finished her first marathon.
She is health oriented and understands the value of a life in balance. Rachel is warm
and compassionate but will challenge you to make choices that elevate you to become
your best self. She displays her sense of humor (on most days) and believes that
working hard can also be fun and rewarding.
